Who are BES?

Business Enterprise Support Limited (BES) has over 20 years experience in supporting new enterprises.  We are a company limited by guarantee and are a DTI registered enterprise agency.  We currently lead a consortium of enterprise providers across the Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin, Worcestershire and Herefordshire areas.  BES is a successful social enterprise.

We are the largest independent enterprise agency in the West Midlands.

Our Mission statement is “to promote, develop and enable an enterprise culture”.

We aim to do this by:

  • Promoting and educating people of the meaning of enterprise
  • To ensure that the support network is of the highest quality
  • To ensure that quality is lifted year on year
  • To provide tools to help people recognise their own enterprising skills
  • Be a key player within the support network
  • Work closely with other support providers

BES holds quality and continuous improvement at the forefront of all of its business activities.  Our systems incorporate a range of recognized standards which include Matrix and Customer first.  In 2004 through an ALI inspection (now Ofsted) BES had the distinction of being awarded the highest level of grade one for its training under Management and Professional.

All of our client facing staff are trained to either Level 3 IAG or are Sfedi accredited, dependant upon the activity undertaken, and the self employed associates are chosen from a rigorous approved supplier register.  Part of this criterion ensures that they conform to the Sfedi accreditation process which regularly monitors their CPD.  BES is also the West Midlands Licenced  Centre for Sfedi Accreditation and moulds the regional database for over 350 Business Support Professionals which enables us to provide sector specific provision.  Building on the quality of our organization, BES has recently been awarded the Prowess Flagship Status.

BES is committed to addressing the diversity issues and our company ethos  is to provide as many people as possible with the tools to identify their enterprising skills, and how to use these skills within the working environment including investigating self employment as a career option.

BES considers its support services to be  ‘gender friendly’ and as a member of the national organization ‘Prowess’ and a Flagship status provider, contributes to the economy and local cultural environment by providing a full support services for women’s enterprise including women from diverse ethnic and cultural backgrounds.

In 2006, BES won the regional heat of the Enterprising Britain competition by showing its success in engaging with clients from the diverse BAME communities in Burton Upon Trent, working with young people, offenders and ex-offenders and supporting the creation of social enterprise.  This was delivered through our highly successful ‘Enterprise Coaching Model’.

BES also work with offenders both in Prison and upon their release into the community to help them recognize their own enterprising skills.  We help the clients to access mainstream support upon their release in the community.  We are currently working in 10 prisons in and around the West Midlands area.
